HOW DO I GET BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATE BY ONLINE IN BANGALORE

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will soon launch a hassle-free system where one can get birth or death certificates within 24 hours from the hospital itself.
In BBMP limits, there are 27 registration offices, one in each Assembly constituency. BBMP had started the service of getting online birth/death certificates at these registration offices in 2010. in the last year, on a pilot basis, they had conducted a study at five major hospitals in Bangalore, including St John’s and M S Ramaiah Hospital where their software was installed in computers belonging to the hospitals. With this, hospital authorities could access the formats, that is Form-1 for birth, Form-2 for death and Form-3 for still born.
Soon after the birth, the hospital authorities filled out required details like baby’s name, gender, parents' name,  informer (in this case, it is hospital) for birth certificates and in case of death, deceased’s name, gender, age, reason for death.
If it is natural death, hospital authorities are the informer and if it is unnatural death, the police provide the details.
“Once they feed the data, it is automatically transferred to the BBMP main server. By getting data transferred to the server, certificates will be available at 27 BBMP registration centres, five general hospitals, six BBMP referral hospitals along with 90 BangaloreOne Centres,” the official said.
‘’Hospital authorities should collect the certificates from the nearest centres and hand them over to the applicants within 24 hours,”.
The pilot project has been successful in making the process faster and hassle-free.
“Now, they are planning to include all the hospitals,”.
“Hospitals charge fees from people for these certificates. It is their responsibility to give them the first free copy. If hospitals charge extra, people can contact BBMP. They will take action,”
